Mindy grew up by the harbour in Sydney, where her family included artists and illustrators passionate about creating paintings, clothing, and interior designs. After becoming a parent, she embraced the opportunity to attend art school. In her own words, “It felt like a homecoming”.
Mindy now lives in Tasmania, somewhat removed from the rest of the world, which provides her with space and time. It allows her the freedom to engage in a way of making that interests her most – a slow and contemplative approach.
Tasmania/lutruwita is a place of raw beauty and powerful, elemental landscapes. It strips everything back to its essence. She discards what is extraneous and unnecessary. Consequently, her work has evolved towards a minimalist form of abstraction with compositions rich in colour, geometric form and a sense of space.
Mindy’s works are on display at the Tempo.
As an artist and maker, Mindy’s practice includes printmaking, painting and ceramics.
Her artworks are abstracted compositions of rich colour, geometric form and the space between forms.
Slow, focused hand-making is central to Mindy's creative practice, which focuses on process, play and contemplation.
Her work continues to evolve towards an increasingly minimalist form of abstraction.
